After considering an investment in solar energy for a long time, Indet are pleased to inform you that our two facilities in Barcelona and Jaén are now equipped with solar panels to generate renewable energy. We have carried out this project in partnership with Enertika.
The number of solar panel installations in companies and homes throughout Spain has increased over the last decade. According to a report by the Spanish Solar Association (UNEF), the power of solar installations in 2020 amounted to 596 MWn per year, with a cumulative 1,539 MWn.
This leave us with no doubt that the installation of these solar panels in our factories will have a positive impact, not only in reducing the electricity bill, but also in our commitment to sustainability and caring for the environment.
Solar energy and the sustainable development goals
Climate change and the effects it has on the planet has been a topic of debate in recent years. Many of its effects are unfortunately already palpable.
In 2015, the UN presented the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a set of actions covering 17 objectives and 169 goals in the economic, social, and environmental fields.
Among these objectives, number 7 focuses on “Guaranteeing access to affordable, safe, sustainable, and modern energy”, and among its goals is “to considerably increase the proportion of renewable energy sources”.
Following these guidelines, policies in Europe are being implemented, approved, and reinforced to promote this transformation. For this reason, among others, we believe that this situation leaves Spanish companies facing a unique opportunity to switch to solar self-consumption.
Indet solar panels in Jaén and Barcelona
This year, in partnership with the company Enertika, we have installed a 58.86 kWp photovoltaic plant in the internal network for self-consumption generation, at our Design and Print headquarters in Jaén.
The installation is linked electrically to the main network of the site in the front part of it. The roof is made of sheet metal and is fixed to a lower structure using steel straps.
The installation of this solar panel will enable us to reduce our CO2 emissions to 39,861 kg per year. More details below:
Also in partnership with Enertika, we have carried out the 65,945 kWp solar installation project in an internal network for self-consumption generation with surplus compensation at our headquarters in Barcelona.
The same way as in Jaén, this installation is electrically linked to the main network of the site. These are some performance data and savings in carbon dioxide emissions:
What are the benefits of solar energy?
These are the benefits of solar panel installations that have been a key part of our decision making:
- They contribute to the reduction of climate change. They do not generate any type of carbon dioxide. Solar energy is clean and renewable and can even improve the quality of the air we breathe.
- They are renewable. Unlike traditional sources of energy such as gas or oil, solar energy is available worldwide, and adapts to natural cycles. This makes it an essential element of a sustainable energy system that allows development of the present without jeopardising future generations.
- They do not contaminate. Installing a solar panel offers the ability to obtain energy from a natural resource, so it is free of any contamination and contributes to the reduction of global warming.
- They save on electricity costs. The increases in electricity prices make the installation of solar panels in companies more attractive. Self-consumption is a particularly interesting option, offering savings that vary from company to company, depending on the size and characteristics of the installation.
Indet is proud to share this news that reinforces our commitment to responsible production and consumption, and minimising the effects of the products and services that we offer throughout their life cycle.
